Meryl Alappattu, DPT, PhD received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Florida in 2008 and subsequently completed a year-long residency in Cancer Rehabilitation and Pelvic Health at University of Florida Health in 2009. She graduated from the Doctoral Program in Rehabilitation Science and studied mechanisms of chronic pelvic pain in women. She was supported by a Teaching Assistantship and an NIH T32 predoctoral fellowship during her time in the Rehabilitation Science program. After graduation, she completed a post-doctoral fellow in the Pain Research and Intervention Center of Excellence with Dr. Michael Robinson. She was recently appointed to the position of Research Assistant Professor and is also a K12 Rehabilitation Research Career Development Program Scholar. Her current research expands on her previous work studying the mechanisms underpinning female chronic pelvic and the development of sound and effective treatments for this condition.
