Alumni Accomplishments

The Department of Physical Therapy is proud to announce that 17 Gator PT alumni have recently received specialist certifications through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties or have graduated from their residency programs. The following physical therapists have clearly shown their commitment to the field by advancing their knowledge and skills to provide the best possible care for their patients.

Dr. Alanna Baker ’01, DPT, SCS, outreach program coordinator at Duke Sports Medicine, is now a sports certified specialist.

Dr. Erienne Blanchard, DPT, OCS, is a newly certified orthopedic clinical specialist.

Dr. Nicole Casagrand ’20, DPT, plans to graduate from the James A. Haley Orthopedic Residency Program in August and will begin working at the Orlando VA Medical Center upon graduation.

Dr. Melissa Clarke, DPT, OCS, is a newly certified orthopedic clinical specialist.

Dr. Tommy Coffey ’20, DPT, acute care physical therapist, graduated from the Geriatric Physical Therapy Residency Program at Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center.

Dr. Christopher Dela Cruz ’18, DPT, NCS, physical therapist at Acquired Brain Injury Day Program, is now a neurologic clinical specialist.

Dr. Renee Fontana ’20, DPT, acute pediatric physical therapist at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, plans to graduate from the Pediatric Physical Therapy Residency from the children’s hospital in August and will begin working at the Dell Children’s Medical Center upon graduation.

Dr. Chris Fuller ’19, DPT, physical therapist at UF Health Jacksonville, graduated from the UF Health Jacksonville Orthopedic Residency Program.

Dr. Jake Irwin ’20, DPT, physical therapist at the Leo C. Chase Jr. VA Clinic in St. Augustine, graduated from the Orthopedic Residency Program at Malcom Randall VA Medical Center.

Dr. John Jones ’18, DPT, outpatient orthopedic and acute care physical therapist at Augusta University Health and adjunct faculty at Augusta University Department of Physical Therapy, graduated from the Orthopedic Residency Program at Augusta University of Health.

Dr. Kristi Kirby ’18, DPT, physical therapist at Benchmark PT, graduated from the Orthopedic Specialist Residency Program with Upstream Rehab Institute.

Dr. Katherine McConnell ’18, DPT, lead physical therapist at the Halifax Brooks Center for Inpatient Rehab, graduated from the Brooks Rehabilitation Institute of Higher Learning Neurological Residency.

Dr. Shelby Wells Huerta ’19, DPT, NCS, physical therapist, graduated from the Neurologic Residency at Tampa General Hospital and she is also a newly certified neurologic clinical specialist.

Dr. Rebecca Wheeler ’19, DPT, CLT, physical therapist at PT Solutions at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, is a newly certified lymphedema specialist.

Dr. Jeffrey Whitaker ’18, DPT, OCS, clinic director, graduated from the Orthopedic Specialist Residency Program with Upstream Rehab Institute and is a newly certified orthopedic clinical specialist.

Dr. Danielle Woodruff ’17, DPT, outpatient neurologic physical therapist, graduated from the Neurologic Residency Program at Brooks Rehabilitation.

Dr. Brett Zebelian ’19, DPT, OCS, physical therapist, graduated from the Orthopedic Residency Program at Michigan Medicine and is a newly certified orthopedic clinical specialist.
