Associate Professor Andrew Judge served as Co-chair for The Advances in Skeletal Muscle Biology in Health and Disease Conference which hosted 300 international adult muscle biology and physiology researchers.
In its fifteenth year, this widely renowned conference receives wide spread public and private support, including: the Myology Institute and Wellstone Center, the colleges of Health and Human Performance, Medicine, and Public Health and Health Professions, the department of applied physiology and kinesiology, the department of physical therapy, the UF Office of Research, Abbott, the Translational Research Institute for Metabolism and Diabetes, Catabasis, Sarepta Therapeutics, Aurora Scientific, Summitt, Marathon Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer, SomaLogic and The FEBS Journal. The premier conference included a lecture by molecular biologist Kenneth Holmes, Ph.D., who directed the department of biophysics at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research in Germany for 35 years; grant writing workshops with Q & A sessions; and opportunities to network and exchange research ideas with other muscle experts from around the globe.
