Abstracts/Posters:
We invite graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to present their research in poster format. The poster session will be held 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at President's House, 2151 West University Avenue. The top four graduate student poster winners will be recognized and presented a $500 travel award. The top two post-doctoral fellow poster winners will also be recognized and will receive a $250 travel award. Award recipients will be announced at the 4:00 poster awards ceremony. All poster presenters are invited to join the keynote speakers and T32 faculty at a President's House luncheon prior to the poster session.

All presenters must submit an abstract to: abstract-nmpt@phhp.ufl.edu no later than
Friday, February 17, 2012 at 5:00 p.m

All applicants must state one of the following within the text of his/her email to abstract-nmpt@phhp.ufl.edu:
1) I am presenting the research of my lab OR
2) I am presenting my research project

All applicants must identify which of the following she/he is within the text of his/her email to abstract-nmpt@phhp.ufl.edu:
1) Graduate student 2) Post-doctoral fellow OR 3) Other

All individuals receiving a notice of abstract acceptance are invited to present their poster during the March 16th poster session. Evaluations of abstracts/posters will take place this year in a two tier system whereby the top 50 percent of abstracts will be selected to contend as finalists during the March 18th poster session and will be further reviewed by judges during the session. Presenters should be available at their poster for review by the judges.

Abstracts and posters are judged based on the following five categories:
1) Writing, 2) Impact, 3) Innovation, 4) Complete, and 5) Significance

The categories are broadly defined as follows:
1) Writing (1-10 points) :
Well-written abstract in terms of clarity, rationale, hypothesis stated, methods described, conclusions and implications of the findings.
2) Impact (1-10 points):
What potential does the research described have to impact and advance knowledge within and outside of the particular field of research?
3) Innovation (1-10 points):
How creative is the hypothesis put forward? How innovative is the approach used to address the hypothesis?
4) Complete (1 - 10 points):
Has the study been concluded? Were a variety of outcome measures used? Is this a pilot study or a relatively complete study?
5) Significance (1 - 10 points):
Is significance stated clearly in presentation (poster and oral)?
