Concentration: Movement Dysfunction

Primary Faculty Advisor: Kathye E. Light, PhD, PT

Research Description: My research interests are in motor behavior problems of elderly patients, particularly those with chronic balance problems, cerebral vascular disease, Parkinson's disease, and frailty. I am currently working with Dr. Mark Bishop on the Florida Department of Health Biomedical Research Program grant, The Link Between Smoking and Recovery from Frailty in Older Floridians. I am also working with Dr. Light on a NIH grant looking at Parameters of Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT). The primary purposes of this research program are to explore and quantify the efficacy of CIMT on subjects with upper extremity effects of stroke.
