Dr. Rebecca Willcocks is a Research Assistant Professor whose research interests include muscle MRI in neuromuscular disease, bone health in muscular dystrophy, and exercise metabolism in children and adolescents.  Dr. Willcocks completed her undergraduate degree in kinesiology at the University of Victoria in Canada, and her MSc and PhD in pediatric exercise physiology at the University of Exeter in England. She came to the University of Florida as a post-doctoral fellow to work with Krista Vandenborne, PhD, PT in the Muscle Physiology Laboratory. Dr. Willcocks’ current research aims include developing biomarkers to quickly detect treatment-related changes in muscle health in people with neuromuscular diseases, understanding the role of different treatments on fracture risk in people with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and developing methods of measuring bone health noninvasively.
