Patten Awarded SPiRE grant from VA

Carolynn Patten_2016Physical Therapy department Associate Professor Carolynn Patten, PhD, PT has been awarded a SPiRE (Small Projects in Rehabilitation Effectiveness) grant from VA Rehabilitation R&D, “Neural Mechanisms Mediating Interlimb Transfer Following Stroke.” The study investigates acute adaptations in intracortical and interhemispheric circuits that mediate interlimb transfer following stroke. The two year, $200,000 project will begin on October 1, 2015.
Working on the project with Dr. Patten are: RSD student Qian (Chelsea) Ding, PT; Elizabeth (Lizzie) Jenkins and Amanda Hoss, both of who are pre-OT and UF PHHP Health Science seniors conducting their honors research; UF senior Biological Engineering student Spencer Gilleon; and recent UF HHP/APK graduate and pre-medicine student Jennifer Bromwell.
